Hello!

So we are all settled in Togo and we have had a full week of ministry.

Already we have had the opportunity to be involved in a wide variety of things in just the past few days.

Here is a quick list of what we’ve been doing:

– teaching in grade schools

– speaking and giving encouragement to high schoolers

– evangelism (is it door to door when there are no doors?)

– leading a VBS style assembly

– singing, dancing, praying, and sharing testimonies in African church services

– young adult bible studies

– women’s ministry

As you can see just in the past week we have done a lot. However our two teams (C3 and Talitha Koum- TK for short) are split up into 3 smaller groups and returning consistently to the same classes and ministries. We are hoping to really be able to invest in some of the same groups of people.

The smaller team I am in, if you want to read blogs that have different perspectives on the things we are doing, are Madison and myself from C3 and Annie Cluff and Dominique Marlin from TK.

Prayer requests:

-Today we were supposed to do some prison ministry but were not able to get authorization so pray that we get it and are able to get that in the next few weeks and take Jesus’ love to the prison here in Lomé.

-Pray for the evangelism we will be doing. There is a voodoo priest we are hoping to evangelize to and the team is praying hard for salvation for him and his village.

-Pray for the kids we are working with. DJ and I have been teaching a class of 5-6 year olds and it has been really delightful to get to know them and love on them. Our little team also spoke at a high school and the high schoolers were asking a lot of really amazing questions about faith and prayer and life and they clearly have a hunger for scripture. Pray over their hearts as we work on investing in them.

-It’s been a very busy week and we are going to need to to work hard for team time and community together this month. So pray for unity and time within our teams. Also  pray for continued prayers for the health of the team and for good nights of sleep!

-And lastly, we have some wonderful hosts so just pray for clarity and communication and that we can serve them well and vice versa.

Thank you all as always for your prayers and support! I also still have some stories from last month that I may post without updates so keep an eye out for those! As always, WiFi in Africa is limited, in fact this blog is coming to you via airdrop to my team’s creative director who is getting WiFi to post everyone’s blogs today. So all that to say, I’ll share more posts and updates when I get WiFi. In the meantime, love you all, and hope your month is going well!

God Bless,

-Hattie

  1. My Dearest Hattie: I am so happy that your ministry seems to be going so well. God is
really using you and for that we pray continually. We also pray for your health and safety.
Know you are missed but are where we feel God’s wants you to be. Uncle Ken joins me in sending blessings and much love. Aunt Lucy

  2. Hello, Hattie dear! Wow, you are (or should I say, they are….) keeping you very busy! But it looks like that is so, so good, with many lovely ministries. I have a feeling you are going to come home thinking that you’ve just spent 11 months “drinking from a fire hose” of spiritual service!! It seems like that to me as I read your updates. Still praying for you and rejoicing with you as you follow Jesus in His work!

  3. As you Mum, I am excited to hear that you all have a lots of venues to serve, but I am not excited to hear that you all want to reach out to a voodoo priest! I know you all will be prayed up, but be in agreement in prayer that this is something you should do. I am sure you are praying the prayers I gave you- the preparation prayers in the morning and the cleansing prayers at night. As your Mum, I have to say “be careful”.
